Frequently Asked Questions
Your Guide to Dance Passion
FAQs
Do I need a partner to learn how to dance?
No, you don’t need to have a partner. If you’re learning solo, your instructor will be your partner during privates, and in group classes, you will be dancing with our instructors and other students!
I have two left feet – Can I learn to dance?
Yes! Anyone can learn to dance with the help of a qualified instructor. Our instructors work with beginners every day and are able to explain and demonstrate dances in a way that is simple and easy to understand. Like the proverb says: If you can speak, you can sing and if you can walk, you can dance!
Am I too young or too old to dance?
Dancing can be enjoyed by people of all ages for a lifetime. It’s never too late or too early to start dancing!
How much do ballroom dance lessons cost?
As part of our mission to make ballroom dancing accessible for everyone, we strive to make it affordable as well. Because Dance Passion is an independent dance studio, we do not have expensive franchise fees or have to adhere to strict franchise fee structures. You will be able to pay by the class or purchase a lesson package, which ultimately has a less expensive per class rate. Ultimately, the cost will depend upon your personal goals. Do you aspire to be a competitive dancer? Are you interested in becoming a better social dancer? Are you getting married and want a jaw-dropping wedding dance choreographed just for you? The best thing to do is to sign up for our free lesson offer and then discuss your goals with your instructor. What do you have to lose?
What do I wear/Do I need special shoes?
Comfort is key when dancing, so comfortable clothes and shoes are a must! Tennis shoes should be avoided as they stick to the floor and hinder movement, and flip-flops and sandals can fall off. Leather or suede-soled shoes are usually your best choice!
How long will it take me to learn to dance?
Anyone can learn to dance. However, everyone learns at a different pace and has different goals in mind. The average person will be able to learn the basic patterns to dance in as few as six lessons.
What’s better: private lessons or group classes?
During private lessons, you receive individual attention which allows the student (individual or couple) to learn at their own pace yet is flexible enough for even the busiest schedules. Group classes are great for practicing lead and follow as well as for repetition. Classes are a fun way to make new friends. For most individuals, we recommend a program with a combination of group classes and private lessons.
We'e getting married in a few weeks. Is there still time to learn our first dance?
Yes! While it is suggested to give yourself at least 3 months before your wedding to start learning the first dance, we do have some emergency packages designed to help you learn something quick and easy. We will make sure you can look smooth and elegant on your special day!
